Introduction
POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION IN DIGITAL ECONOMY AND FOOD SECURITY AT NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (NWU) IN SOUTH AFRICA
North-West University focuses on creating new knowledge and implementing thereof to improve various communities' lives. Close cooperation with the private and public sectors in South Africa and abroad has created internationally significant research that makes a difference in scholarly content and the industry.
The School of Economic Sciences has a 2-year position for a post-doctoral researcher to work on the research project “digital economy and food security”. The applicant will be based at the Vanderbijlpark campus with the aim of increasing research outputs in the mentioned focus areas. The position can be extended for another 1-2 years if the scholarly output is exceptional. NWU offers a stimulating working environment, and the successful applicant will be part of a strong research team.
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in securing research projects funding and article publications.
Minimum requirements
· PhD in Economics with specialisation in digitalisation and food security obtained in the last 3 years.
· Demonstrate experience in publications in economics research.
· Fluent in both written and spoken English.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
A panel of researchers will remotely interview applicants that adhere to the criteria. The duration of the position is two years (possible extension for an additional year or two), beginning on 1 June 2023 (or based on the agreement). The stipend is per the university’s post-doctoral fellowship position scale.
