NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS) FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES PC SCHOOL OF HUMAN MOVEMENT SCIENCES POSITION NUMBER: TB00313 VACANCY: JUNIOR LECTURER PEROMNES GRADE: A9 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FIXED-TERM APPOINTMENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION This is an academic position on the Potchefstroom campus within the School of Human Movement Sciences, subprogram Sport Science. This position is available to aid the program for curriculum development (New 4-year degree in sport science to commence 2025), and for a member within the subprogram to focus on community engagement and personal development 2024. The Lecturer will perform Teaching and Learning, Research and Community engagement activities within the Sport Science and Human Movement science programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
TEACHING AND LEARNING
  •   Provide T&L to undergraduate students.
 RESEARCH
  •   Self-initiated research supervision and collaboration in research projects.
 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
  •  Community engagement through implementation of expertise.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  •    An Honours degree in Sport Science or Human Movement Sciences with specialisation in Sport Science or Coaching Science. NQF Level 8)
  •    A Minimum of 1year Teaching and Learning experience including experience in a face-to-face and online teaching setting in a university context.
  •    Practical experience within coaching sciences.
  •    A Minimum of 1yearexperience in conducting own research and assisting with data collection, analyses and reporting of research.
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS).
  •    Experience and knowledge in Human Movement Science and Sport sciences as well as facilitation skills.
  •    Experience and applied knowledge in Coaching Sciences, Sport and Exercise Science practice and sport Psychology.
  •    Ability to conduct basic and applied research in the field of Exercise Sciences.
  •    Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), emails, the internet, and electronic diaries.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES.
  •    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  •    The ability to act independently and cooperatively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  •    Ability to function independently, autonomously, systematically, accurately and the ability to perform problem-solving.
  •    Professional and ethical behaviour with good decision-making and analytical skills.
  •    Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
  •    The ability to build and maintain sound interpersonal relations and function effectively as part of a team.
  •    Must be able to interact with undergraduate students
