PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
An appointment of a Lecturer to contribute meaningfully to quality teaching and learning. To support the development of critical thinking of students in the school and faculty by increasing capacity in handling legal issues associated with out curricula. To introduce students to political research and reasoning and provide practical training in problem solving, essay writing and advocacy.

Minimum requirements
· A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Politics and International Relations.
EXPERIENCE:
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in research.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
· A PhD (NQF level 10) in Politics and International Relations.
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching at a tertiary institution.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Strong publication track record in reputable and accredited presses and journals.
· Strong commitment to good teaching and research.
· Experience in Postgraduate supervision, including at the doctoral level.
· Sound communication skills in English.
· Completed Masters / doctoral degree in Political Science (Politics and/or International Relations), with consideration for cognate disciplines.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Excellent teaching skills and good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues.
· Capacity to administer large undergraduate modules.
· Knowledge of various subfields of Political Science.
· Familiarity with blended learning techniques.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
