Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Lecturer/Jnr Lecturer to provide teaching and learning services with some research activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching and Learning  

  • Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies 

Research 

  • Research activities to be discussed with PGL and DD.

Community engagement

  • Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of SAS.

Minimum requirements

LECTURER 

  • An honours degree/ a postgraduate diploma (NQF level 8) in Accountancy.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the field as an accountant is desirable. 
  • A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in Accounting.
  • Accreditations and registration with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA)/ The South African institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as an AGA(SA)/ the Associate of Chartered certified Accountants (ACCA).

JUNIOR LECTURER

  • An honours degree/ a postgraduate diploma (NQF level 8) in Accountancy.
  • A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in Accounting.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of Accounting.
  • Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.
  • Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.
  • Interest in community service.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Professional and ethical behavior.
  • Adaptability / Agility.

REMUNERATION:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
