Purpose of the position
Providing quality service regarding teaching and learning, research and innovation, and community engagement and commercialisation activities within the Subject Group: English for Education.
Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching a variety of English modules within a multi-modal delivery approach of teacher training programmes at under- and postgraduate level. Expertise and experience of teaching English at a higher education institution and/or school level are required. Supervise postgraduate students in English Language Education.
- Perform research in the fields of language learning and teaching.
- Active participation in the development of community-based research by adapting and designing modules for service learning and by initiating and leading engaged scholarship projects.
- Planning, organising and record keeping as part of office and subject (module) administration in accordance with faculty’s teaching policy and close collaboration with the subject group (meetings).
- Active participation in order to operationalise the WIL (Work Integrated Learning) programme at all levels.

Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
SENIOR LECTURER
- PhD in English Language or English Language teaching or relevant to English language
- Professional education qualification in language teaching methodologies and didactics
- 2 years’ functional and subject related experience on high school level
- 2 publications in accredited journals
- Completed supervision of a Masters student or co-supervision of a PHD student.
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
· PhD in English Language or English Language teaching or relevant to English language
· Professional education qualification in language teaching methodologies and didactics
· 5 years’ functional and subject related experience on tertiary level
· Record of consistent publication in accredited journals and publications
· Completed supervision of at least 2 Masters studies and 1 PhD study.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
· 2 - 5 years’ functional and subject related experience on Primary and/or Secondary level.
· SACE registration
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Subject knowledge: English HL and/or FAL
· Teaching skills: Language Methodology and Didactics
· Assessment competencies
· Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite)
· Supervision or co-supervision of postgraduate qualifications
