Replacing an employee temporarily
Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching and Learning.:
- Teaching of undergraduate Academic Literacy components and associated work, such as creating and marking assessments and doing material development.
Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Hons degree in Languages in Afrikaans or English with a focus on Applied Linguistics OR related field with English or Afrikaans on 3rd-year level or higher.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
· Marking and/or tutoring of undergraduate modules in English and Afrikaans (1 year experience).
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Teach Academic Literacy in Afrikaans and English at first year level.
· Have obtained a high mark for undergraduate modules equivalent to those they will be expected to teach
· Good time management
· Available for student consultation on module content
· In-person teaching at the Potchefstroom campus during the scheduled class times
· Be able to work with marks spreadsheets
· Liaise with the cross-campus teaching team
· Be prepared to learn how to use the Learning Management System (Sakai based – eFundi)
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Excellent administrative and organising ability
· Ability and willingness to work as part of a cross-campus teaching team
· Be able to well in a team
· Adherence to strict deadlines
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
