PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Senior Lecturer: Provide teaching and learning services as well as a research function. This position is a half-day position with reduced working hours, i.e., working hours are 5/8ths of a fulltime position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and Learning
- Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies, ensuring required throughput and achieving student-lecturer evaluation scores in accordance with the university’s expectations.
Research
- Research outputs as to be discussed with programme leader and deputy director.
Community Engagement
- Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the School of Accounting Sciences.
Minimum requirements
- An Honours / Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy (or equivalent) (NQF Level 8).
- A member of SAICA as a CA(SA).
- 5 years’ experience in the field as an Accountant.
- 5 years’ teaching experience at a SAICA-accredited institution.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Published articles in accredited journals.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of accountancy including accounting, auditing, management accounting, financial management and taxation.
- Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.
- Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.
- Interest in community service.
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
- Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.

REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
