PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The successful incumbent will be responsible for teaching undergraduates and/or postgraduate students in Curriculum Studies, Philosophy and Research Methodology modules, as well as supervising ERTP, Master and/or PhD students. He/she will have to be actively involved in research and community engagement activities and participate in academic leadership in order to make an important contribution to the faculty’s core business.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching :
- Teaching under and post graduate modules in Curriculum Studies, Philosophy & Research Methodology. Supervision of ERTP and Master students.
Research:
- Scholarly guidance, innovation, and initiation regarding research in Curriculum studies.
Community Engagement:
- Involvement in community engagement programmes.
Minimum requirements
Senior Lecturer:
- A PhD in Education (Curriculum studies) (NQF 10).
- A minimum of 5 years’ active involvement and participation in teaching and learning in higher education.
- Leadership experience (active academic leadership and/or involvement in school and faculty committees).
- Experience in Work Integrated Learning (involvement in WIL and teaching and/or research activities at community level).
- Completed supervision of at least one master’s degree student.
- At least two published accredited publications.
Lecturer:
- A Master’s degree in Education (Curriculum Studies) (NQF 9).
- A minimum of 2 years’ active involvement and participation in teaching and learning at school level.
KEY FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Have a proven record of teaching and learning.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Team worker.
- Good interpersonal relations
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the advertised appointment level and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
