Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Research: Scholarly guidance, innovation and initiation with regard to research in Education Law or a related field.
  • Teaching: Collegial support of staff in the research entity.
  • Teaching at all levels in higher education, and supervising Masters and PhD students.
  • Initiating research projects.
  • Involvement in community engagement programmes.

Minimum requirements

  • PhD in Education Law or associated field is essential.
  • Accreditation as an NRF researcher is desirable.
  • Previously employed in the field of Higher Education for a minimum of 3 years.

Other competencies
  • Leader of funded research projects.
  • Have proven record of successful supervision of Master’s and PhD students.
  • Knowledge of writing of academic articles/books/chapters in the fields indicated above.
  • Research skills, interpersonal skills/communication and computer literacy.

Functional/Technical competencies (knowledge and skills)
  • Proven and comprehensive publication record, over the last five (5) years, including recognition in leading citation indices.
  • Conducting of research and knowledge of research instruments, e.g. use of software such as SPSS, Atlas.ti etc.

Behavioural competencies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
