Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

A Lecturer is expected to contribute to the institution's teaching effort and carry out activities to maintain and develop their professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline. A lecturer is also expected to make contributions to research and community engagement.

Minimum requirements

  • A Master of Commerce (NQF level 9) in Accountancy OR a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree /Postgraduate diploma (NQF level 8) in Accountancy with SAIPA/CIMA/ AGA(SA) qualifications.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in accounting subject group.

RECOMMENDATION / ADDED ADVANTAGE:

  • Accreditations with professional bodies such as SAIPA, CIMA or ACCA.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Technical competencies in Accountancy and sound technical knowledge in Management Accounting and Financial Management will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.
  • Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.

REMUNERATION:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
