INTRODUCTION NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM) FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES (PHARMACEN™) POSITION NAME: ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The appointment of an Administrative officer to manage the secretarial and administrative side of the Director of the Research Entity’s office (Pharmacen™) to establish a professional and highly effective environment. Managing an effective communication channel, updating daily calendar, scheduling appointments, interviews and meetings. Assist with layout of executive summaries and presentations, manage and maintain the Research Entity’s official website, do data management and plan and co-ordinate events, as well as manage the planning and co-ordination of the annual Orientation Programme for postgraduate students. Job description

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
·       Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, office procedures and terminology.
·       Knowledge and skills with regard to the use of specific office software programs.
·       Knowledge of principles for providing customer and personal services.
·       Knowledge of the structure and content of the appropriate language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
·       Utilise proper grammar, punctuation, spelling and correct arrangement of information.
·       Utilise various software programs for word processing, spreads sheets and presentations.
·       Perform basic mathematical operation with accuracy.
·       Communication skills.
·       Time-management and organisational skills.
·       Ability to prioritise on-going administrative tasks and manage own time well.
 
Recommendations:
·       Formal training in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, InfoEd and Kuali are recommended.

Minimum requirements
