Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

A dedicated project manager for this period will enhance efficiency, accountability, and performance tracking, ultimately supporting the Business Development department’s continued success and development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project planning and scheduling: 

  • Defining project scope and objectives.
  • Developing detailed project plans, including timelines and milestones
  • Resource allocation and task assignment.

Budget Management:

  • Estimating costs and preparing budget.
  • Monitoring and controlling project expenditures.
  • Ensuring project is completed within the approved budget.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Identifying and engaging stakeholders.
  • Ensuring effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Managing stakeholder expectations and feedback.

Risk Management:

  • Identifying potential risks and issues
  • Developing risk mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Monitoring and managing risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Execution and Delivery

  • Managing project execution according to the plan.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and final deliverables.
  • Coordinating activities and resolving issues that arise.

Communication Management: 

  • Establishing effective communication channels.
  • Ensuring regular updates and reports are provided to stakeholders
  • Facilitating meetings and ensuring clear and concise information sharing.

Minimum requirements

  • A B.Eng  (NQF level 8) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of two (2) years at any level of project management.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of general engineering work.

ADDED ADVANTAGES

  • Registered with the South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE)
  • A PhD Eng (NQF level 10) in Mechanical/Nuclear Engineering.
  • An M.Eng (NQF level 9) in Mechanical/Nuclear Engineering.

FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Must be proficient in the following:

  • Can work as an individual and in a group dynamic.
  • Can work under pressure.
  • Can do academic research: independent and in groups.

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

The following behavioral competencies are required:

  • Sound Mind.
  • Sober habits.
  • Medically fit of mind and body.
  • Can formally socialize in business setting.

REMUNERATION

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
