Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Lecture of text- and linguistics modules, both in undergraduate programs and on honours level. The candidate will be expected to contribute to research and provide post-graduate supervision.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Teaching-learning for contact and open-distance learning students in the subject Afrikaans (Text- and linguistics)
  • Personal Research, Innovation and/or Creative Output
  • Social Responsiveness and Industry Involvement
  • Programme development
  • Teaching practice assessments
  • Higher Degree Supervision
  • Administration and other activities

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 
LECTURER
  •  An appropriate master’s degree on NQF level 9, in Afrikaans linguistics and methodology
  • A professional teaching qualification on NQF level 7 in Afrikaans language education
  • A minimum of three years’ teaching experience in primary or secondary school education
ADDED ADVANTAGE:
  •  Registration with the SA Council for Educators (SACE)
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Competency in linguistics and methodology
  • ICT competence and research expertise
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • The ability to function within a team
  • Critical thinking skills, the ability to handle conflict and the ability to function creatively and innovatively
REMUNERATION
