KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching and Learning

·        Presenting undergraduate and postgraduate mathematics modules. Development of new modules and programmes.

Research

·        Conducting academic research (publishing research papers, etc.)

Social Responsiveness

·         Engage in community engagement projects and subject-specific societies as well as service to the broader mathematics community.

Academic Leadership

·      Participate in the management of the department across the three campuses to ensure that there is proper alignment in line with the university policies

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·        Latex, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel

·        Matlab

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

·        Work independently, but also as a team.

·        Have good people skills.

·        Professional and ethical behaviour.

·        Be able to act as a mentor for junior staff.

·        A PhD (NQF Level 10) in Pure Mathematics (Number Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Algebra, Functional Analysis,

Linear Algebra, Differential Geometry, Topology).

·        A minimum of three (3) years’ experience with the administration of large class groups.

In addition to the above:

Associate Professor:

·        A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Senior Lecturer:

·        A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
