Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Working mainly within ERP Application Environments produces functional specifications, writes code/queries, troubleshoot system functions, resolve and/or provide alternative solutions or workarounds, perform system and integration testing, security, and performance assessment for medium to large applications. Responsible for configurations of existing and new systems and changes to existing systems. Utilizes existing and new technologies. Works close with the development team and business stakeholders. Responsible for maintenance, upgrades, deployments of patches and releases and system support (functional and technical) of more than one business areas ensuring sustainability and stability to the production environments.

EY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Requirement Management:
· Analyses user requirements getting a solid understanding of the need and expectation of coding deliverables. Performs technical investigation, analysis, troubleshooting and debugging all or part of the technical change to improve system changes. Uses approved standards, methods, techniques and tools.
2.    Optimization of processes of running production environment:
· Responsible for development, delivery, testing, roll-out of assigned domain and products optimisation of processes of running production environment. Continuous improvement and enhancement of running production environment. Conducting and understanding of requirements for new and enhancement change requests Pro-actively identifies and troubleshoot problems and design changes to avoid recurring errors minimising the risk of system downtime. Collaborates with business stakeholders ensure understanding of implementations of business requirements.
3.    Programming & Testing:
· Produces and run SQL scripts. Identifies, communicates and escalates technical problems. Troubleshoots, debugs and identifies problems and recommends changes to serve as permanent solutions. Performs effective testing during the development life cycle ensuring program and program modifications meets the business requirements and satisfy quality. Communicates test results to business stakeholders. Produces and keeps system documentation up-to-date.
4.    Support:
· Sustain production environment and serve as backup for product stream. Maintains and amends existing moderate business process and solutions. Reacts and resolves issues when reported. Troubleshoots, debug and establishes workarounds while developing permanent solutions for the problems and errors ensuring maximum system availability, sustainability and stability to the production environments. Document processes.
5.    Security and conformance:
· Working with IT Infrastructure and Architects ensure the implementation of safe and secure systems environment.
6.    Projects:
· Serves as project team member with thorough understanding of the business requirements on projects of medium to large in scope and moderate in complexity. Perform assigned activities according to approved methodologies, tools and standards. Collaborate and build relationships across multi-business area.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·         A bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Information Technology OR a National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Information Technology with relevant certifications.

EXPERIENCE:
·         A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the support and maintenance of ERP systems (excluding internship & onboarding).

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·         Experience covering the following concepts and products:
  • §  Systems analysis and design;
  • §  Integration of systems using webservices (Restful and/or SOAP);
  • §  Knowledge of low code platforms such as Apex, Microsoft Power Apps an advantage;
  • §  Knowledge of reporting tools such as SSRS, PowerBI, Apex, Jasper Reporting an advantage;
  • §  Knowledge of different databases such as Oracle, MYSQL and Microsoft SQL;
  • §  Knowledge working with application servers, e.g. JBoss, WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat etc; and
  • Familiarity with ORM concepts and relational databases.
·         Experience in implementing business systems and in systems analysis and programming.
·         General knowledge of business systems and development methodology, as well as database utilisation and programming.
·         Knowledge of Agile/Scrum an advantage.
·         Knowledge of Wiki mark-ups (preferably Confluence) and JIRA.

REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
