Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Communication and Stakeholder Relations

·        Communicated effectively with all clients with regards to Protection Services through encounters at -their different deployments.

·        Assist and ensure compliance with the NWU Potchefstroom Campus safety and security strategies.

·        Assist and ensure compliance with the NWU Potchefstroom Campus safety and security regulations and standard operating procedures.

Crime Information Management

·        Attend to incidents and information received.

·        Ensure that crime information received is reported to the Control Room and necessary documents are completed.

Operations

·        The daily delivery of a safe NWU Potchefstroom campus community by executing daily patrols and access control.

·        Ensure compliance of service providers deployed at the access points – reporting any deviations.

·        To act in the best safety and security interest of NWU Potchefstroom Campus Community.

·        Effective alarm management.

·        Conduct access control function(s) effectively.

·        Regular consistent radio and telephone communication.

·        Effective incident management.

·        Ensure that all faults and deviations reported timeously.

·        Efficient locking and unlocking of buildings.

                Security

·        To ensure that physical crime prevention measures are conducted within regulations and policy directives.

·        Ensure adherence and compliance on service level agreements between protection services and relevant stakeholders including overseeing outsource security services.

Disaster Management

·        Compliance with allocated functions from the disaster management plan to ensure immediate response to relevant disasters.

·        Coordinate with internal stakeholders an incident response and management plan of catastrophic incidences.

Special events and Emergency Services

·        Ensure protection of public lives and NWU property against fire hazards and other safety risks.

·        Ensure the deployment of Special Events in accordance to relevant legislation.

 

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·        Computer literacy.

·        Must communicate by radio as well as by telephone.

·        Must complete and maintain a pocketbook and incident book.

·        Visitation services, seizure and preservation of evidence.

·        Reaction service on alarms Providing evidence in disciplinary and criminal matters.

·        Attendance of complaints.

·        Opening and closing of buildings.

·        Traffic and Access Control on campus Identification of occupational safety risks.

·        Execution of ad hoc assignments.

·        Must provide search query services.

 

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

·        Must be able to function in a team.

·        Excellent judgement skills.

·        Good communication skills Interpersonal Customer service orientated.

·        Pro-active and innovative problem solver.

·        Excellent time management skills.

Minimum requirements

·        Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).

·        Paramilitary or Security background.

·        Must be able to maintain a PSIRA Grade C.

 

REMUNERATION:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
