PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer: provide teaching and learning services as well as a research function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and Learning
- Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies
Research
- Research activities to be discussed with PGL and Director.
Community engagement
- Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of SAS.
Minimum requirements
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
- A PhD (NQF 10) in Accountancy.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in teaching Accounting at a tertiary institution.
- Accreditations and registration with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) or South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as an AGA(SA) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
SENIOR LECTURER
- A Master of Commerce (NQF level 9) in Accountancy.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience teaching Accounting at a tertiary institution.
- Accreditations and registration with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) or South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as an AGA(SA) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of Accounting.
- Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.
- Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.
- Interest in community service.
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
- Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Professional and ethical behavior.
- Adaptability / Agility.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
