Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
A Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organisational unit or interdisciplinary area, and play a significant role within their profession or discipline.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching:
- The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
- Initiation and development of subject material in the field of Corporate Governance, Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption.
2. Development and Supervision:
- The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
- Supervision of Master's and or Doctoral students or postgraduate students engaged in coursework.
- Involvement in special ad hoc projects.
- Initiation of industry-related discussions and execution thereof via various modalities.
3. Research:
- .Conducting of research and contribution to research output.
- Involvement in professional activity.
4. Ad hoc:
- Various ad hoc tasks as agreed with Chief Director.
Minimum requirements
Senior Lecturer:
- Honours BCom in Forensic Accountancy with three years practical commercial forensic investigative experience OR a relevant Master’s degree.
- CA(SA) with three years practical commercial forensic investigative experience OR a Master's degree in forensic accountancy.
- LLB, admitted legal practitioner with a Master’s degree in forensic accountancy and three years practical commercial forensic investigative experience.
Associate Professor:
- Relevant PhD and proven research output in commercial forensic practice.
RECOMMENDATION:
- Full member of the Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners (FP) SA.
EXPERIENCE:
- Three years' experience at an advanced level in the area of commercial forensic investigations.
- Two years' intermediate experience, which shows evidence of extensive independence and initiatives in research, applied or creative works and be a subject-matter-expert in their field.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), email and internet.
· Knowledge of the appropriate assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.
· Research outputs.
· A proven commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in student's educational development and wellbeing.
· Knowledge of modern teaching and learning platforms.
· Expected to be involved in the development of and have responsibility for curricula and programmes of study (award courses)
· Good and effective time-management and problem-solving skills.
· Effective communication skills.
· Good interpersonal relations and a client-service orientation.
· Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environments of the NWU.
· The ability to function well individually and as part of a team/subject group.
· Good analytical abilities and innovative thinking, as well as the ability to be self-driven.
· The ability to solve problems independently.
· Good planning and organising skills as well as good report writing skills.
· A high level of professional and ethical conduct.
