PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Six academic vacancies exist at the NWU Engineering Faculty that can be filled on any level, depending on the profile of the preferred candidates. These vacancies occur in the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Industrial Engineering, the School of Electrical Electronic and Computer Engineering and the School of Chemical and Minerals Engineering. Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching, Learning and Supervision
· Lecturing of appropriate modules as indicated in your cover letter
· Final year project supervision ((Junior) Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, (Associate) Professor)
· MEng and PhD Supervision (Senior Lecturer, (Associate) Professor).

Research
· Executing own research either towards completing own studies ((Junior) Lecturer)
· Active participation (Senior Lecturer) or taking the lead ((Associate) Professor) in a relevant Faculty Supported Research group.

Minimum requirements
ALL POSITIONS:
· An appropriate BEng/ BScEng degree that allows for registration as Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA, http://ecsa.co.za), in terms of the Washington accord.

If your B.Eng/ BScEng qualification is not from a South African university, please submit with your application appropriate proof that you are either registered or registrable as a professional engineer through one of the organisations acknowledged by https://www.ieagreements.org).
JUNIOR LECTURER

- An appropriate BEng/ BScEng degree with specialization in either Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
LECTURER

· An appropriate Masters degree
SENIOR LECTURER
In addition to the above
· Either an appropriate PhD degree OR an appropriate Masters degree combined with professional registration as engineer
· A research portfolio as can be expected from a senior lecturer
· 3 years appropriate work experience
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
In addition to the above
- A research portfolio that will qualify for NRF-rating within the next three years
- 7 years appropriate work experience, of which at least 3 years are in a higher education context
PROFESSOR
In addition to the above
- NRF-rating as established researcher or a research portfolio that will immediately qualify for NRF rating
- 10 years appropriate work experience, of which at least 3 years are in a higher education context
