Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research:
· Scholarly guidance, management, and initiative with regards to research in the UNESCO chair for multimodal learning and open educational resources and the acquiring of external funding
· Conducting own research at a high academic standard within multimodal learning and open educational resources
· Active involvement in the Research Unit Self-Directed Learning research structures support and organisation.
· Mentoring of researchers, including creating development opportunities.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Be in possession of a doctorate in an appropriate field of study (PhD in Education with specialisation in a field which can be related to multimodal learning and open educational resources or self-directed learning)
· Leader of funded research projects on national level
· Author/co-author of recent research articles in accredited journals
· Extensive experience in supervision of masters and doctoral students as supervisor or promotor
· International networking and collaboration
· Involvement in NRF – funded research projects as project member
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
· NRF Rated researcher
· Have proven experience in research methodology
· Research skills, interpersonal skills/communication, and computer literacy
· Previously employed in the field of Higher Education
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL/ BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Have a proven publication record – especially over the last 5 years.
· Have a proven record of presenting/attending relevant national and international conferences
· Team worker
