Job description
The School of Management Sciences (Potchefstroom Campus), within the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the North-West University, invites applications for a full-time two-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.
The fellowship is intended for candidates who will initiate and execute Business Management research projects aligned with one or more of the following fields:

- Entrepreneurship.
- Strategic Management.
- Supply Chain Management.
- Management Education.
The School offers a supportive academic environment committed to advancing research excellence and strengthening scholarly output within the Business Management discipline. The successful candidate will form part of the School’s research activities and will be mentored by senior researchers.
In addition to research outputs, the successful candidate will:
- Contribute to the School’s research initiatives.
- Provide research support within the discipline.
- Mentor Business Management master’s students in support of supervisors.
- Serve on the School’s Scientific Committee.
Minimum requirements
- PhD in a Business Management-related field obtained within the last five years.
- Proven track record of publications in DHET-accredited journals.
- Demonstrated research competence.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Added Advantage
- Evidence of previous or funded research projects.
Preference
In line with national research capacity development objectives, preference may be given to South African citizens and permanent residents.
Contract duration and value
Full-time, two-year fellowship, subject to satisfactory progress. Extension may be considered where exceptional scholarly performance has been demonstrated and funding is available.
The stipend is aligned with the University’s postdoctoral fellowship scale (R240 000 per annum, tax-free).
The successful candidate will be issued with a student number and will have access to University resources. A dedicated office space will be provided.
Candidates are responsible for accommodation, personal travel and expenses not covered by the postdoctoral fellowship agreement.

- A motivation letter summarising the applicant's professional experience and expertise and describing why the applicant is interested in this position and the expected contribution to be made to the School of Management Sciences and the Workwell research unit.
- A research plan for the next two years.
- An academic curriculum vitae (max. five pages).
- A complete list of published research outputs.
- Names and contact information of two references.
- Copy of identity document or similar.
- Copy of PhD certificate.
- Electronic copy of PhD thesis.
- Two most recent published articles (peer-reviewed in reputable journals).
