PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Lecturing linguistuics modules, both in undergraduate programs and on honours level. The candidate will be expected to contribute to research and provide post-graduate supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching and learning for contact and distance learning students in the subject Afrikaans (Linguistics)
2. Personal Research, Innovation and/or Creative Output
3. Social Responsiveness and Industry Involvement
4. Programme development
5. Teaching practice assessments
6. Higher Degree Supervision
7. Administration and other activities
Minimum requirements
· An Honours degree (NQF level 8) in Afrikaans Linguistics and Methodology or relevant.
· A professional education qualification (NQF level 7) in Afrikaans Language Education
· A minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience in primary or secondary school education
ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:
· Professional registration with the SACE.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Competency in linguistics and methodology.
· ICT competence and research expertise.
· Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Critical thinking skills, the ability to handle conflict and the ability to function creatively and innovatively.
· The ability to function within a team.

REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
