Job description

The NWU AGoPA (Afrocentric Governance of Public Affairs) research entity in the Faculty of Humanities at the North West University is inviting applications from outstanding early-career researchers for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. To be shortlisted, applicants must hold a  Ph.D in Public Administration/Governance/Policy Studies, with a specific focus on innovation in the public sector including the following sub-focus areas fields:

  • Product innovation: entailing new products to provide services, for example, using information communication technologies to promote citizen participation in governance affairs.
  • Service innovation: which entails new ways of providing services to end-users by public sector organisations.
  • Process innovation: which involves redesigning organisational processes, for example, reengineering business processes.
  • Position innovation: which is concerned with the identification of new contexts or users.
  • Strategic innovation: focusing on the value of setting new goals or purposes for public sector organisations.
  • Governance innovation: aiming to redefine how citizens and institutions are engaged in order to entrench democracy.

In addition to the requirements above, applicants must demonstrate potential to publish in any of the research fields mentioned above in DOE accredited journals especially high impact journals, attend a conference where he/she presents a paper on any of the research fields mentioned above. 

Minimum requirements

The applicant must be below 45 years or younger and the following documents must accompany the application:

  • Certified copy of Doctoral Degree certificate
  • Certified copy of ID/Passport
  • A motivation for how the applicant can contribute to the above-mentioned research project

REMUNERATION

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
