Job description

Teaching:
Provide leadership for academic programmes in the specialist area.

This will include:
Delivering teaching aligned to the general Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Finance Management.
Facilitating student learning and/or post-graduate students’ research in line with the University’s goals and objectives.
Supporting colleagues to enhance the University’s overall teaching culture.
 
Research:
Internationally and locally recognised for outstanding contributions and scholarship in the Agricultural Economics field.
 
This will include:
Publication of innovative research in accredited national and international journals.
Attraction of external research funds.
Sustained attraction and successful supervision of research students.
Active contribution to the University’s research culture and research outputs.
 
Community engagement:
Build effective networks and contribute expertise to the upliftment of community projects.

Minimum requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • PhD in Agricultural Economics is essential.
  • Membership with Agricultural Economics Society of South Africa is essential.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 Years as University Lecturer in Postgraduate activities is essential.

FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS)
  • Understanding of general Agricultural Economics and Agricultural financial Management.
  • Ability to impart knowledge and teach Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Financial Management
  • Ability to supervise and promote postgraduates in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural financial Management.
  • Engage and liaise with communities of practise.

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Professional, accountable and credible.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
