Job description

Purpose of the position:
To effectively receive and process all information resources for cataloguing.

Responsibilities:
  • Receiving and processing of information resources
  • Receiving and processing of theses and dissertations
  • Prepare items for binding
  • Prepare book call numbers
  • Reporting and statistics
  • Stocktaking and ordering
  • Cataloguing general 

Minimum requirements

 
  • Grade 12
  • Studying towards a Library and Information Science qualification may serve as an advantage
  • LIASA Membership may serve as an advantage
 
 
Other competency requirements:
  • 1 year experience in an academic / Research Library
  • 1 year experience in book processing in an academic library
  • Computer literacy (Ms Office, Email and Internet)
  • Have basic knowledge of library management systems (e.g., Worldshare)
  • Good English communication skills (verbal and written)
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
