Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
A Lecturer is expected to contribute to the institution's teaching effort and carry out activities to maintain and develop their professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline. A lecturer is also expected to make contributions to research and community engagement.

Minimum requirements

LECTURER
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • A Master of Commerce in Accountancy (NQF level 9) or a Bachelor of Commerce Honours/Postgraduate Diploma (NQF level 8) in Accountancy with South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) / Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)/ Associate General Accountant (SA) qualifications.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience in an accounting subject group.
ADDED ADVANTAGES:
  • Accreditation with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) / Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) / Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments
  • Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Communication
  • Writing Skills
 
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
