Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The provision of professional free legal services to the indigent and poor members of the community.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Community and scientific engagement / social responsiveness
- Academic leadership, management, and administration/university service
- Occupational Health and Safety
Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- LLB NQF 8
- Registration with Legal Practice Council – admitted legal practitioner
- Minimum 2 years’ Litigation experience in Magistrate’s and Regional Court
ADDED ADVANTAGE:
- LLM NQF 9
- Practical legal training (LSSA/LEAD)
- Minimum 1 years’ community engagement experience
- Minimum 1 years’ post article experience as an attorney
Functional / Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills)
- Legal language skills
- Computer literacy in MS Word and Office, as well as email, internet and electronic retrieval of legal sources
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Demonstrate language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
- Sound knowledge of advocacy, consultation, research, administration, drafting and file management skills
Behavioural Competencies
- Good interpersonal relations
- Ability to communicate with clients and staff members
