PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of this position is to provide key administrative support to the Critical and Analytical Thinking modules of North-West University:
· ICAT111 (Mahikeng and Vanderbijlpark campuses)
· ECAT121 (Mahikeng and Vanderbijlpark campuses)
· IURX113 (Mahikeng Campus)
· IURX123 (Mahikeng Campus)
Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for general administrative tasks, including but not limited to:
* Handle general enquiries from staff and students (email enquiries as well as enquiries in the chat room on each semester’s three eFundi sites between the two campuses).
* Administration tasks such as:
* Taking minutes of the weekly staff meetings and making the recording available to staff.
* Building of the weekly lesson on eFundi and posting the lesson on all three student sites after quality control by the teaching team.
* Importing of weekly Tests & Quizzes to the three sites and open & close all tasks per the module plan/schedule.
* Dealing with timetable issues (including venue problems and student clashes).
* Keeping track of the asset register of the subject group.
* Take care of the records management of the modules ICAT111, ECAT121, IURX113, and IURX123 (be responsible for updating all the required module files, including staff CVs, examples of tasks and tests, results and statistics of performance).
* Administrative support to and data management of the multilingual project of the subject group.
Minimum requirements
· Grade 12 is essential, but a PGCE or degree in a related field to the modules is desirable (Linguistics / Applied Linguistics / Communication / Education)
· Some administrative experience at tertiary institutions is essential
· Some experience/knowledge of NWU record keeping would be an advantage
· Applicants should have excellent computer literacy skills (including Excel) and sufficient knowledge of the T&L platform, eFundi, is essential (or any equivalent platform, e.g. Blackboard)
· Applicant should display good interpersonal skills and should function well in a team
· Applicant must have exceptional communication skills, be customer-service orientated (handling of student and staff and enquiries) and have a keen eye for detail
· It is essential that the applicant should have an excellent communicative ability in English
· Applicant must have good minute-taking skills
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES
These modules have high student numbers that are taught by a team of lecturers. Applicants should be comfortable working in and contributing to a very strong team-teaching approach. Experience in dealing with students from diverse backgrounds would be a strong recommendation.
