Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Provide teaching and learning services as well a research function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching & Learning
- Lecturing assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies to undergraduates and supervising postgraduate students.
Research & Innovation
- Publish in peer reviewed journals and / or books.
Community Engagement
- Share expertise with the academic, public and corporate communities.
Admin
- All administrative tasks related to T&L, R&I and CE.
Minimum requirements
SENIOR LECTURER
- A PhD in International Trade (NQF level 10).
- Proven research track record - academic article/s in peer reviewed journal/s and conference presentations.
LECTURER
- A master’s degree in International Trade (NQF level 9).
In addition to the above,
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of three (3) years’ teaching and learning experience in any of the subject disciplines of Economics / Finance / International trade.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- International trade.
- Economics (Macroeconomics/Microeconomics/Development economics).
- Econometrics.
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU (Fluent in Afrikaans and English) – Essential.
- Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel as well as cloud platforms (Teams, Google etc.).
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Professional and ethical behaviour.
- Adaptability / Agility.
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
