Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To assist in the NWU veterinary hospital.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     Handling of patients, treatment and follow-up.

2.     Clinic admin Microvet and patients in hospital care.

Minimum requirements

  • A National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Animal Health.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a veterinary clinic as a Paraveterinary worker.
  • Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC).

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • An honours in Animal health /veterinary related field (NQF level 8).
  • Accreditation with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) or Safe & Vault Technicians Association (SAVTA).

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • History taking and client form proper write up.
  • Clinical examination and reporting to veterinarian.
  • Patient aftercare and follow up.

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Punctual
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Teaching skills developed under veterinarian supervision.

 

REMUNERATION:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
