NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (VANDERBIJLPARK CAMPUS) FACULTY OF HUMANITIES SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES POSITION NUMBER: V000334 POSITION: COORDINATOR PEROMNES GRADE: P10 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT APPOINTMENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The position involves the coordination of all activities related to the functioning of the school of languages environment with a focus on the existing centres in the school such as Centre for Translation Studies and Professional Language Services (CTrans) , writing centre as well as short courses. The co-ordinator also does administrative tasks that ensure the successful functioning of the school such as co-ordinate the provision of internships that Language Practice students in the School of Languages.
Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project management:
  • Liaise with internal and external customers. Coordinate and process translations, editing, proofreading, quality assurance, Academic writing support services (writing centre).
Financial administration:
⦁ Oversee annual budget. Perform financial transactions on KFS.
Monitor internships:
⦁ Supervise interns.
Administration:
⦁ Director and Deputy director support within the school of Languages.





Minimum requirements

⦁ A BA degree (NQF level 7) in English or Language Practice or any relevant qualification on NQF level 7.
⦁ A minimum of 2 years’ experience in coordination of projects or centres at a tertiary institution.
⦁ A minimum of 1 year experience in financial management.

RECOMMENDATION:
⦁ A degree (NQF level 7) or Diploma (NQF level 6) in Administration.
⦁ SATI (South African Translators’ Institute) membership.
⦁ A minimum of 1 year experience using KFS (Kuali Financial System).

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
⦁ Experience in coordinating (project management) a language practice office at a tertiary institution.
⦁ Knowledge of the discipline of Language subjects offered in the school of languages, Academic writing skills
⦁ Basic bookkeeping experience, and Administration skills
⦁ Computer skills (MS Office and translation software).
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
⦁ Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
⦁ A strong client-service orientation.
⦁ Problem-solving skills.


The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
