Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, research and supervision of honours students; organisational & management tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching and Learning:
- Teaching of undergraduate & postgraduate students.
2. Research:
- Conduction research and supervision of postgraduate students.
3. Organisational and management tasks:
- Assist with management tasks.
Minimum requirements
- A Master of Science degree (NQF level 9) in Algebra, Functional Analysis, Topology or Differential Geometry.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate students.
RECOMMENDATIONS / ADDED ADVANTAGES:
- Membership with the South African Mathematics Society (SAMS) / American Mathematics Society (AMS).
- Proof of PhD registration or an intention to register for PhD.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Latex, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Outlook, Matlab
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Work independently, but also as a team.
- Have good people skills.
- Professional and ethical behaviour.
- Be able to act as a mentor for junior staff.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
