Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Teaching of undergraduate & postgraduate students, research and supervision of postgraduate students; organisational & management tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching and learning:
- Teaching of undergraduate & postgraduate students.
2. Research and Innovation:
- Conduction research and supervision of postgraduate students.
3. Organisational and Management tasks:
- Assist with management tasks.
Minimum requirements
- A PhD (NQF level 10) in Algebra, Functional Analysis, Topology or Differential Geometry.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Proven research track record.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Membership with the South African Mathematics Society (SAMS) / American Mathematics Society (AMS)
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Latex, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Outlook, Matlab.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Work independently, but also as a team.
- Have good people skills.
- Professional and ethical behaviour.
- Be able to act as a mentor for junior staff.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
