Job description
NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY CALL FOR A POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT ECONOMICS
The NWU intends to add a number of postdoctoral research fellows to its academic ranks to increase its research base and outputs and enhance the international scale and scholarly contribution of its research activities.
The TRADE research entity and the World Trade Organization (WTO) Chairs Programme have a 2-year position for a post-doctoral fellow to work in collaborative research in the fields of international trade and economic development, with specific focus areas being international trade promotion and/or socio-economic dynamics and gender issues in South Africa’s informal sector. If the scholarly research outputs are exceptional, this position may be renewed for a further year (year 3). The starting date for the fellowship is as soon as possible, but not later than 1 July 2023.
The applicant will be based at the Potchefstroom Campus. The NWU offers a stimulating working environment and the successful applicant would join a strong and established research team.
Requirements:
· PhD in Economics/ Development Economics/International Trade/International Economics obtained within the past 5 years.
· Has proven experience in publishing in high-ranked accredited journals and books.
· Fluent in both written and spoken English.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
A panel of researchers will remotely interview applicants who meet the above criteria. The remuneration is currently a monthly, non-taxable stipend of R20 800, as per the NWU’s Post-doctoral Fellow guidelines.

5. A copy of their PhD certificate.
6. A copy of their PhD thesis.
7. Two relevant published articles.
