Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Involved in teaching and learning (undergraduate and post-graduate programmes), specifically Language Skills in a Legal Context (including Developing relevant study material); research which fits into the Faculty’s focus areas; post-graduate supervision (where applicable); community service and tasks which relates to all above activities. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply

Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Arts in Arts with English/Languages/Linguistics or LLB
- A Masters in English or Linguistics
- At least 1 - 2 years’ experience in teaching at an institution of higher learning (as a Lecturer)
DESIRABLES:
- Teaching experience at an institution of higher learning (teaching law students will be an advantage)
- Admission as an attorney or an advocate or experience in legal practice
- Publications in accredited journals
- Proven record of effective post-graduate supervision
FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS):
- Proven expertise and experience in linguistics or in teaching languages at an institution of higher learning.
- Candidates who have a language as well as a legal qualification will have a preference.
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), as well as email, Internet and the electronic retrieval of legal sources.
- The ability to / experience in online teaching will be an advantage.
- Curriculum development skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Language skills in order to function optimally in the different multilingual environments of the NWU.
- Good interpersonal relations

- The ability to work with large groups of people.
- The ability to accommodate multiculturalism.
- High levels of work ethic, adaptability and professionalism.
