Job description
The purpose of the position is to answer calls on time and professionally, direct calls to relevant faculties and support departments and provide basic information about the university to external stakeholders.
a) Handling Switchboard
Answer incoming calls promptly and forwarding them to correct faculties and support departments
Answer calls within three rings, fast, friendly and refer clients to appropriate office
b) Administration
Maintain and update employee and department directories
Maintain daily statistics of incoming calls by faculty, school and support department
Report faulty switchboard and lines to IT department
Execute ad-hoc tasks by the line manager
Minimum requirements
Grade 12 (Essential)
3 years relevant experience in operating switchboard or manning customer service desk
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Good telephone etiquette
Good verbal communication skills
Knowledge and experience of customer service principles and practices
Administrative and clerical experience
Knowledge of relevant computer systems such as MS Office and email system
Must be fluent in English, Setswana or Sesotho and have basic understanding of Afrikaans
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
Customer service orientated
Outstanding verbal communication skills, ability to listen attentively to requests and convey messages accurately
Good time management
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
