NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (MAHIKENG CAMPUS) FACULTY: EDUCATION POSITION NUMBER: P000461 VACANCY: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT PEROMNES GRADE: P13 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To provide support to the Deputy Dean, WIL Coordinators, lecturers, students, WIL Administrative Officer and all the WIL administrative assistants across the three campuses.
Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.      General office administration
2.      Customer service
3.      General
·       Exhibit very good teamwork.
·       Promote good human relations and provide the necessary.
·       support colleagues when necessary.
·       Act ethically, correctly and promote the image of the faculty and University.
·       Ad Hoc Assignments.
       

Minimum requirements

·       Grade 12 or equivalent
·       Two (2) years experience in a secretarial and/or administrative environment.
·       Two (2) years experience in working with MS Office.
·       One (1) year experience in working with VSS, Groupwise, and other NWU systems.
 
ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:
·       Secretarial/Administrative Certificate or Diploma.
·       One (1) year experience in the public school system.
·       Two (2) years experience in working with Google Suite and advanced MS Office application usage.
 
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Knowledge of administrative systems, such as word processing, file management, record keeping, designing of forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
·       Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment and appropriate responses.
·       Knowledge of the structure and content of the appropriate language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar (English).
·       Very good computer skills and the ability to adapt to changes in technologies.
·       Good mathematical skills
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Willingness to learn.
·       Excellent ability to work as part of a group, as well as being able to work as an individual.
·       Very good communication skills and the ability to remain diplomatic under stressful circumstances.
·       Excellent linguistic skills, both verbal and written.
·       Good organisation skills and an excellent ability to prioritise, adapt and plan.
·       Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
·       Discretion when working with confidential and sensitive information.
