PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To fill an existing vacant post to teach Physical Sciences. A junior lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional career relevant to the profession or discipline in terms of research and community engagement

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching-learning - Teaching-learning of Natural Sciences on contact and distance mode of delivery (includes organisational and management tasks)
2. Research - Furthering of own qualifications. Involvement in general research (e.g. publishing in accredited journals, presenting papers at conferences, etc.).
3. Community Engagement - Be involved or initiate community engagement projects
Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Relevant Honour’s degree with specialisation in Physical Sciences (Physics)
· Initial teacher’s qualification with majors I Physical Sciences (Physics on third year level)
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience of Physical Science teaching position in Secondary schools
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
· 1 year teaching experience of Physical Science teaching at a tertiary insitution
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Fundamental Knowledge of Biological Sciences concepts to teach Natural Sciences content modules for undergraduate B.Ed and Hons students;
· Knowledge of dynamic teaching- learning technologies
· Good computer skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
· Use of blended learning environments, e.g. Internet and email
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Able to function well in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural working environment
· Good communication skills
· Good interpersonal skills
· Good planning skills
