PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To fill a vacancy for a fixed-term lecturer that is being re-advertised.
Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and Learning
· Undergraduate teaching and all associated activities per module, for PLKS 171 and 172.
· Effective teaching practices – contact and online modes.
· Satisfactory student success rate according to Faculty norms.
· Monitoring of and engagement with at-risk students to ensure student success.
· Effective assessment practices.
Administrative
· Involved in required administrative tasks of the subject group.
· Contributions to advising students and recruitment activities.
Minimum requirements
Qualification
· MSc NQF Level 9 in Botany or related field is essential.
Experience/s
· 1 year experience in teaching at tertiary level.
· 1 year hands-on experience in laboratory techniques relevant to the subject.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Good knowledge of basic biology and botany concepts.
· Ability to relate abstract information to students and to adjust teaching style to student needs.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Good interpersonal relationships.
· Capacity to work under pressure.
· Self-motivated.
· Attention to detail.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
