Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·     Performance analysis, including sample reception, logging, analysis, quality assurance and quality control
·     Participate in the quality assurance process as outlined in the ISO 17025
·     Interpret and report results
·     Ensure that the laboratory equipment is at all times maintained
·     Ensure effective and efficient inventory management
·     Logging information and ordering of chemicals on LIMS – as instructed by the line manager
·     Liaise with external clients – responding to queries as instructed by the line manager
·     Provide academic support to staff and students as instructed by the line manager

Minimum requirements

·       MSc in Biochemistry or related field
·       5 years’ experience in laboratory analysis
·       2- years’ experience and knowledge in NMR with GC/LC-MS experience as an added benefit.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       1 years’ experience working with a LIMS
·       Compiling worksheets and process all specimens in the lab
·       Proficient analytical preparation
·       Proficient in NMR operation and method development with LC/ GC-MS analysis as an addition
·       Enter all results onto LIMS
·       Perform maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, internal and external quality controls
·       Ensure adherence to safety rules and SOPS
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Proven ability to work in a multicultural environment
·       Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Ability to function under pressure
