PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Provide assistance to the herbarium and botanical garden regarding data management, public liaison, and maintenance of plant collections.
Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and research support
· Taxonomic collections database management
· Plant material collection, preparation and storage
· Process administration
Community engagement
· Public liaison
· Assisting with schools and other groups that visit the Botanical Garden
Administration
· Booking and venue administration
Occupational Health and Safety
· Adherence to OHS as per requirements
Ad hoc administrative tasks
· Perform Ad hoc tasks as required
Minimum requirements
· Diploma in Nature conservation
· 2 years’ experience in plant identification
· 2 years’ experience in laboratory skills
· Valid driver’s license
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Database management skills
· Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders
· Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Groupwise and Internet) with accurate typing skills
· Good organisational skills
