NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY MAHIKENG FACULTY/ DIVISION: HEALTH SCIENCES POSITION NUMBER: P002624 POSITION NAME: JUNIOR LECTURER VACANCY: 1 PEROMNES GRADE: A9 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION This is an academic position on the Mafikeng campus within the Coaching Science Program. The Junior Lecturer will perform Teaching and Learning, Research and Community engagement activities.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience and knowledge in Sport- or Human Movement Science or Coaching Science as well as facilitation skills
  • Experience and basic knowledge in various sports such as athletics, hockey, and sports coaching
  • Knowledge of video analysis, motor learning, coaching fundamentals
  • Competence to demonstrate skills in sports such as soccer and hockey
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), emails, the internet and electronic diaries.
  • Knowing how to use LMS system (such as eFundi) will serve as an advantage
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to act independently and cooperatively in a multidisciplinary environment
  •  Ability to function independently, autonomously, systematically, accurately and the ability to perform problem solving
  • Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
  • The ability to build and maintain sound interpersonal relations and function effectively as part of a team

Minimum requirements


  • Master’s degree at NQF 9 level, specialising in Sports Science / Human Movement Science / Coaching Science / Biokinetics is essential

EXPERIENCE:
 
  • 1-2 years relevant experience
  • Must be an athletic person to teach various sports modules
  • Involved in coaching to teach Coaching Science students to become good coaches
  • Knowledgeable of online teaching and formal teaching environments. 

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
