Introduction
POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION IN INSTRUMENTATION/CONTAMINANT DETECTION
An instrumentation research team seeks to recruit a suitable qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work as part of a multi-disciplinary research project aimed at developing portable systems for detection and monitoring of water contaminants. The fellowship will be awarded taking into account the applicant's research potential.

Tenure of fellowship
The fellowship is initially for a period of one year, but can be extended for second and third year based on a satisfactory performance and motivation from the Principal Investigator.
Minimum requirements
· Undergraduate qualification in Electronics, Electronic Engineering, Physics with Electronics, Chemistry, or a closely related field
· PhD degree in one of the above areas, or in a closely related field
· Experience in sensors and instrumentation
· Practical experience in electronic systems design
· Practical experience in microcontroller-based/embedded systems design
· Practical experience in wireless sensors network may be an advantage
· Ability to operate maximally in an interdisciplinary research environment
· Proven ability to work independently within a research lab
· Hands-on experience in laboratory/field techniques in the related subject
· A track record of publications related to the outlined research area
· Practical experience in detection techniques for toxic heavy metals will be an advantage
· Preferably a South-African, but other nationals are encouraged to apply
