PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the position is to develop a strong research program in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, supervise postgraduate students and teach modules in the area of mathematical Sciences.
Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teaching and supervision at postgraduate level.
• Research publications.
• Course and Curriculum development.
• Departmental administrative responsibilities as appropriate.
• Involvement in community engagement programmes.
• Development of independent research programmes.
• Support of research entity.
Minimum requirements
Qualification
• PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is essential.
Experience/s
• 10 years Professional Experience in being a Professor is essential.
• 7 years Professional Experience in being an Associate Professor is essential.
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
• Accreditations in NRF rating is desirable.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
• At least 10 articles published in academic journals and knowledge of writing of academic articles/books/chapters in the field.
• At least 5 completed Master’s and PhD students in the field.
• Experience in teaching research modules
• Extensive knowledge of the field of Curriculum Studies.
• Knowledge of teaching in different modes of delivery.
• Computer proficient – command of Matlab, Mathematica, Latex.

• Good interpersonal relations.
• The ability to work with large groups of people.
• Ability to adhere to timelines and deadlines.
• Good communication skills (verbal, written and use of technology).

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
