Job description

·  Teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate level Statistics/Operations Research
·  Research in the area of expertise and publish research in accredited conference proceedings and journals
·  Participate in community engagement activities
·  Serve in professional bodies as a reviewer, editor, other committees etc.
·  Course development and curriculum
·  Prepare and conduct student assessments allocated modules
·  Administrative duties related to the department, school and faculty

Minimum requirements

·  Masters/PhD Statistics/Operations Research NQF Level 9/10 is essential/ desirable

 EXPERIENCE

·  Lecturer: Five years lecturing experience plus a minimum of a research publication in an accredited journal. Conference proceedings as well as postgraduate supervision will be an added advantage.
·  Senior Lecturer: Five years’ industry/teaching experience plus a minimum of two research publications in accredited journals. Conference proceedings as well as postgraduate supervision will be an added advantage.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

·   Ability to teach a variety of Statistics and/or Operations Research modules
·   Knowledge of Statistical methods and use of Statistical software
·   Ability to supervise research students at honours, masters and/or co-supervise at Phd level
·   Ability to conduct basic and applied research in the field of Statistics/Operations Research

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

·   Communication skills/lecturing and people management skills
·   Interpersonal skills
·   Be able to work in a team

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
