Job description

Minimum requirements

  • Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics or a closely related field.
  • Seven (7) years experience presenting modules in undergraduate education at university level.
  • Proven research track record, publishing papers in Mathematical Statistics (or related) journals.
  • Proven track record of successfully supervising Masters or Ph.D. students; must have delivered at least 1 Masters student in Mathematical Statistics or related field.

Recommended competencies:
  • Five (5) years experience presenting modules in postgraduate education at university level.
  • Research interest aligned with those of the subject group.
  • Proven track record of successfully supervising Masters or Ph.D. students; completed Ph.D. supervision or currently supervising at Ph.D. level.

Functional/Technical competencies (knowledge and skills)
  • Offer undergraduate and graduate Statistics modules.
  • Handle large undergraduate classes.
  • Deal with course development and administrative tasks.
  • Communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  • Provide postgraduate supervision.
  • Conduct independent research and exhibit a proven research record.
  • Handle statistical consultations.
 
Behavioural competencies
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Be able to work as part of a team.
  • Possess good people skill.
