DOEL VAN DIE POSISIE
Die kandidaat wat in hierdie pos aangestel word, sal verantwoordelik wees vir die onderrig van modules in Afrikaanse Taalkunde op voor- sowel as nagraadse vlak. Dit is belangrik dat die kandidaat ’n navorsingsingesteldheid moet hê en moet kan inskakel by die navorsing wat in die taalkundesubprogram(me) in die navorsingentiteit UPSET (Understanding and Processing Language in Complex Settings) gedoen word.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The candidate appointed to this position will be responsible for the teaching of modules in Afrikaans Linguistics at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level. It is important that the candidate has a research mindset and can be involved in the research that is done in the linguistics sub-program (s) in the research entity UPSET (Understanding and Processing Language in Complex Settings).

SLEUTELVERANTWOORDELIKHEDE:
1. Onderrig en Leer en Nagraadse studiebegeleiding
· Onderrig van Afrikaanse toegepaste en beskrywende taalkunde, voor- en nagraads
2. Persoonlike Navorsing en Innovasie en/of Kreatiewe Uitsette
· Moet kan inskakel en bydra tot die navorsing wat in die taalkundesubprogram(me) in die navorsingsentiteit UPSET (Understanding and Processing Language in Complex Settings) gedoen word.
3. Akademiese Leierskap en Administrasie
· Goeie organisasievermoë en administratiewe vaardighede
4. Sosiale deelname (deel van kundigheid en gemeenskapsbetrokkenheid)
· Betrokkenheid by relevante gemeenskapsprojekte.
Die totale jaarlikse vergoedingspakket sal verband hou met die posvlak soos geadverteer en in lyn met die NWU se beleidsriglyne.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching and Learning and Higher Degree supervision
· Teaching of Afrikaans applied and descriptive linguistics, undergraduate and postgraduate
2. Personal Research and Innovation and/or Creative Outputs
· Must be able to engage and contribute to the research that is done in the linguistics sub-program (s) in the research entity UPSET (Understanding and Processing Language in Complex Settings).
3. Academic Leadership and Administration
· Good organizational and administrative skills
4. Social responsiveness (sharing of expertise and community engagement)
· Involvement in relevant community engagement projects.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

· PHD: Toepaslike doktorsgraad in Afrikaanse Taalkunde, Toegepaste Taalkunde of Algemene Taalwetenskap
· 5 Jaar doseerervaring in Afrikaanse Taalkunde, Toegepaste Taalkunde of Algemene Taalwetenskap
LEKTOR:
· Toepaslike meestersgraad in Afrikaanse Taalkunde, Toegepaste Taalkunde of Algemene Taalwetenskap
· 1 tot 5 jaar se doseerervaring in Afrikaanse Taalkunde, Toegepaste Taalkunde of Algemene Taalwetenskap
ANDER BEVOEGDHEIDSVEREISTES:
· Lidmaatskap van relevante vakgerigte verenigings
SLEUTEL FUNKSIES/ TEGNIESE BEVOEGDHEDE:
· Kennis van teoretiese vertrekpunte in Afrikaanse Taalkunde
· Kennis van Toegepaste Taalkunde (onder meer taalverwerwing en taalpraktyk)
· Ervaring rakende die kurrikulering en onderrig van Afrikaanse taalverwerwing sal as sterk aanbeveling dien
· Rekenaarvaardigheid, insluitend MS Office, internet en e-pos
· Kennis van nuwe en innoverende onderrigmetodes: e-leer, multimedia en klaskamerpraktyk

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
SENIOR LECTURER:
· PHD: Applicable Doctorate in Afrikaans Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or General Linguistics
· 5 Years experience in teaching Afrikaans Linguistics or General Linguistics or Applied Linguistics
LECTURER:
· Applicable Master's degree in Afrikaans Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or General Linguistics
· 1 to 5 years experience in teaching Afrikaans Linguistics or General Linguistics or Applied Linguistics
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
· Membership of Relevant subject specific societies and organisations
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Knowledge of theoretical points of departure in Afrikaans Linguistics
· Knowledge of Applied Linguistics (including language acquisition and language practice)
· Experience regarding the curriculation and teaching of Afrikaans language acquisition will serve as a strong recommendation
· Computer skills, including MS Office, internet and email
· Knowledge of new and innovative teaching methods: e-learning, multimedia and classroom practice
