A postdoctoral position is available at the Electrochemistry for Energy & Environment Group (EEE) within the Research Focus Area for Chemical Resource Beneficiation (CRB), Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, of the North-West University (NWU), Potchefstroom, South Africa. Our group focuses on photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and photo-electrocatalysis with a specific interest in the research and development of catalytic materials that find application in energy conversion and storage technologies that utilizes the above-mentioned three techniques. Areas of specific interest include electrocatalytic water splitting, to produce hydrogen, and Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells. A new opportunity has now arisen with the focus of this fellowship being on the research and development of Lithium-ion batteries with a specific focus on the synthesis, characterisation, and testing of new and novel layered structures/compounds within Lithium-ion batteries to facilitate intercalation. The fellow will be involved in identifying and developing new/novel materials/compounds that allow for improved intercalation and de-intercalation to improve the charging and discharging capabilities of the battery.
