PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
In In support of teaching and learning, provide a comprehensive IT service to all Personnel and post Graduate students in the School of Computer Science and Information systems on Mahikeng campus. To identify, address and solve IT related incidents as well as provide professional advice on IT related upgrades and technologies.
Job description
· Provide comprehensive IT support for graduate and post graduate PC laboratories in SCSIS.
· Provide comprehensive IT support for research computers in SCSIS.
· Provide comprehensive IT support and innovation for staff of SCSIS.
Minimum requirements
Qualification
· Degree or relevant and equivalent certificates in Computer Science and Information Systems/ IT is essential.
· A and N is desirable.
· Accreditations in ITIL Foundation is desirable.
· Membership of Professional IT/CS/IS societies is desirable.
Experience/s
· 2 year’s work experience in System and network administration is essential.
· 2 year’s work experience in NWU IT support is desirable.
· Work experience in enterprise level IT is desirable.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Be able to setup client / server environments for student laboratories as well as research projects.
· Function independently.
· Assist with administrative tasks.
· Evaluate and operate computer equipment in SCSIS.
· Work under pressure and reach deadlines.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Respond in a timely manner to IT related requests.
· Learn about and acquire expertise on new technologies.
· Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environments of the NWU.
· Patience and ability to provide IT assistance remotely and on university premises.
· Have a good understanding of networks, printers, software and software licensing.
· Record keeping.
· Liason with Campus IT.
· Troubleshooting of IT problems (intermediate to advanced).
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
