Job description

Purpose of the position:
General academic administration in the Higher Degrees office such as to be responsible for allocated tasks and duties related to the academic applications, admissions and registration processes for Masters and Doctoral degrees students on the NWU Mahikeng Campus, as part of the NWU Higher Degrees Administration Office that operates on all NWU three campuses.

Minimum requirements

·       Matric/Grade 12 plus two (2) Years’ experience in Higher Degrees/Academic/ Faculty Administration
·       Any advanced certificate or three years` Diploma will be added advantage
·       Appropriate computer literacy and telephone etiquette
·       Appropriate knowledge of processes for Masters and PhD degrees students’ administration.
·       Appropriate knowledge of University and student systems
·       Appropriate knowledge of general office and administrative tasks
 
Job Specification: To assist with tasks related to the Vanderbijlpark Help desk, applications and registrations of prospective students.
Other Competency Requirements:
Functional/Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills)
·       Ability to plan, organise and prioritize daily tasks.
·       Student system, GroupWise and Microsoft Office software.
·       Ability to deal with clients in a professional manner.
·       Ability to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of NWU staff and with students.
·       Appropriate knowledge of English and the terminology used in the university environment.
 
Behavioural Competencies:
·       Ability to work at a good pace.
·       Ability to follow a system and prescribed procedure.
·       Ability to manage time effectively.
·       Ability to take to deal with clients, in a calm and professional way
·       Ability to function in a team.
 
       Responsibilities:
·       General enquiries:
To assist with enquires of students regarding the Notice of submission and examination processes.
·        Higher Degrees examination processes:
To assist current examination process staff with the capturing and filing of all documents related to the examination process.
·        Higher Degrees Honorarium process
To assist with the filing, checking and preparation of Honorarium claims of external examiners for payment to the correct system.
·       Student Records Management:
To file all documents in the correct manner according to the NWU File Plan


The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
